Amenity Planting Scheme

For land owners wishing to plant small areas of native trees in field corners or to replace hedgerow trees, rather than establishing new hedgerows, the Authority operates a free amenity planting scheme where trees, individual protective guards and mulch are available. The owners responsibility is generally to plant and maintain the trees and to erect any fencing required to keep domestic graziers at bay during the establishment years. Gardens are exempt from the scheme. Advice can be given for planting large areas over 0.25 ha under a Forestry Commission scheme; read the Amenity Tree Planting Grant guidance notes.
