Ranger Blog
Skillful with machinery, knowledge of ecology and archaeology, maintaining community contacts and the ability to relate to all of Dartmoors residents and visitors are just some of the skills of a Dartmoor National Park Ranger.
Below is the latest blog from the Moor, please see the Ranger Service page for details and links to all the other blogs

The Last Post! Dartmoor's elements are a match for all materials
Even granite posts can finally succumb to the the elements on Dartmoor and a stopping post on the entrance to a footpath in the village of Belstone was no exception when it decided to shear off just above the latching point!
The old post was dug out (with a little help in the form of a pull from a Land Rover!) and a new post, supplied by our stone mason, then put in place.
A new drop latch was also added to the post to complete the job.
As always these kind of jobs are never the work of just one person or just the Ranger Service and so grateful thanks go to my local Voluntary Warden for his help on the day as well as to the local residents of Belstone who kept us suitably topped up with tea, coffee and biscuits!
All in all we were very pleased with the days work.
