| Services Provided | The High Moorland Visitor Centre is an ideal place to start your visit to Dartmoor. There is FREE admission to the Centre, where you will find extensive, modern, interpretative displays that provide wonderful insights to Dartmoor, its history, culture and wildlife, as well as a gallery with regularly changing exhibitions and a small auditorium where visitors are able to watch various short films about Dartmoor. Staff at the Centre are knowledgeable, local people who will be pleased to help you with advice and ideas on where to go and what to see during your visit. We also stock an extensive range of useful items for the outdoor enthusiast such as maps, publications about Dartmoor and guide books, in addition to gifts, cards, clothing and stationery. We are situated in Princetown at the heart of Dartmoor and the Centre is easily accessible by road from Exeter or Plymouth and by public transport throughout the year. Princetown has several pubs and restaurants, good car parking facilities and public toilets with access for the disabled. Princetown provides an excellent gateway to both the south and north moors for hill walkers and our Centre staff will be pleased to help you plan a suitable route. The weather can be very changeable on the high moors and walkers should be adequately equipped for anything more than a short stroll. The history of the Duchy Hotel, now the High Moorland Visitor Centre will give you an good insight into the past uses of the building. Dartmoor Farming - An exhibition produced by Dartmoor National Park Authority’s Hill Farm Project in partnership with a group of Dartmoor farmers.

Women in Farming (Aune Head Arts) - An exhibition of three pairs of women artists, who explore the life and work of three women hill farmers on Dartmoor. During the project the artists have recorded their experiences of life on a farm. The exhibition will comprise 3 dimensional works, film, print and photographic images.
