August Highlights - Hands on Heritage Sunday 1st August

SUNDAY 1
11:00: 3hr Walk, National Parks Week Picnic Walk (Haytor, Lower Car Park) Explore the area around this iconic Dartmoor landmark and enjoy an extended lunch break on this walk. Why not make a virtual visit first at www.virtuallydartmoor.org (external site, opens new window).

Hands on Heritage, Princetown. A day to discover Dartmoor’s past with FREE activities such as dig boxes, medieval games, story telling, face painting, Morris dancing, quizzes and walks for all the family. Plus demonstrations of historic skills such as flint knapping and pot moulding and a vintage bus to help you get around. There will also be a finds surgery led by Tom Cadbury – Curator of Archaeology RAMM including Identification and handling. Introductory Rock Climbing. Dartmoor National Park Authority has teamed up with the Dartmoor Centres to offer introductory rock climbing sessions suitable for all the family. Two instructors will introduce you to the delights of climbing crags. Learn and practise new skills. All equipment will be provided. 75^th Anniversary of Ramblers - 8^th August 2010 Devon Area Group Walks
The Ramblers are celebrating 75 years since the formation of the Ramblers together with a relaunch of the Two Moors Way. The festival code for the Walks Finder is DG10. All walks will be timed to converge at Hookney Tor 12:30 for 13:00 Grid Reference SX 698 813. Leave after the ceremony at around 14:00.

History and Wildlife along the Templer Way. Come and explore the Yarner Wood section of the Templer Way walking down hill from Green Lane to Lower Down and across to Trendlebere Down. Please come prepared for a 2 hour walk. Meet at Bovey Tracey Union Square catching the Haytor Hoppa, at 10:05 getting back at 13:07.
