Fishing
Dartmoors rivers are noted for their fishing of wild brown trout, sea trout and salmon. Much of the river fishing on Dartmoor is privately owned but stretches of the East and West Dart Rivers may be fished on the purchase of a Duchy of Cornwall permit (contact 01822 890205).

Gliding

Hang Gliding
The consent of the landowner and the National Park authority is required before taking off or landing with a hang glider or paraglider on the Dartmoor commons. The South Devon Hang Gliding and Paragliding club operates on a number of licensed sites in the National Park. If you wish to try your hand please contact Mr Moore on 01803 851402
Model Aircraft
The consent of the landowner and the National Park Authority is required before flying model aircraft on Dartmoor. There is a licensed club based at Plasterdown near Tavistock. with agreed flying days and times.
Swimming
Open air swimming pools exist at Ashburton (01364 652828), Bovey Tracey (01626 832828), Moretonhampstaed (01647 440134), Buckfastleigh (01364 642222) Chagford (01647 432929) and Kingsteignton. Please ring to check opening times.
