3 In June 2008 the development control function of the National Park Authority was redesignated as development management in line with Government guidance.  This was to emphasise the role and responsibilties of the Authority in taking an active lead in spatial planning and place shaping, rather than a more passive role of dealing with planning applications and the enforcement of planning control.
