Adopted in April 2008 the Core Strategy DPD is the principal document in the LDF. It sets out the vision for spatial development in the National Park and establishes a strategy and policies to help meet that vision. The Core Strategy must be read together with the Local Plan for a complete picture of current policy. |

This development plan document will set out the subject related (e.g. housing, employment, tourism) policies. The document will also contain site specific policies to set the planning framework for particular areas and land uses. When adopted it will replace the remaining policies in the Local Plan. | ||

Dartmoor National Park Authority is the Minerals and Waste Planning Authority for the National Park and must produce a minerals plan and a waste plan within the LDF. A revised programme for the Minerals and Waste DPD will be included in the 2010 revision of the LDS. Current minerals and waste policies are contained in the Local Plan. |

What will happen to the Local Plan?
Under the 2004 Act, an adopted development plan becomes a 'saved' plan for a period of 3 years. The Dartmoor National Park Local Plan First Review: 1995-2011 was adopted on the 13 August 2004 and automatically 'saved' until September 2007. The Secretary of State has now saved certain policies and proposals of the Local Plan beyond the 3 year period. You can view the Secretary of State's Direction and schedule of saved policies
( PDF Help 481kb). Detail of the 'phased' replacement of Local Plan policies is set out in the Local Development Scheme. The Local Development Framework will have completely replaced the Local Plan by 2011.
How can you get involved?
All of the documents contained in the Local Development Framework will be available on this web site.
Each element of the LDF (other than the Local Development Scheme, and Annual Monitoring Report) will be subject to public consultation. At each stage of consultation the Authority will follow the procedure set out in the Statement of Community Involvement. Opportunity will be given for those who wish to make representations of support or objection to the Authority to do so, and for those representations to be sent electronically to the Authority if so desired. Further details of all consultation will appear on the planning pages of the Authority's web site at the appropriate time, and on the Consultation Finder application.
Web Review: We are currently in the process of updating the Planning pages of the web site and would welcome your comments. Please use the feedback form.
