How much can be applied for?
The level of grant support will not normally exceed 50%. For the voluntary sector it will not normally exceed 75%. Up to 100% will be available in exceptional circumstances and in most cases this will require a considerable contribution in kind, such as volunteer time or loan of equipment, premises, land etc.
When making grant applications, applicants will be expected to explore complementary grant sources to give added value to the Sustainable Development Fund. Contributions in kind can be evaluated in monetary terms and used as match funding towards the total project costs.
Although there is no prescribed maximum or minimum grant, the average to date has been around £6,000, with the smallest grant being for £381, towards the cost of a composting toilet on a campsite, and the largest was £27,000, towards preserving the gene pool of the Native Dartmoor pony.
