Sustainable Communities

We work with a number of partners such as the Community Council of Devon (external site, opens new window) and Local Strategic Partnership members to secure a viable and sustainable future for Dartmoor’s communities. We offer support for regeneration initiatives, local development trusts, local housing schemes, community facilities and services in ways that support and promote National Park purposes.

For example, in 2005 we supported the work of Moretonhampstead Development Trust and helped in the funding of the new community sports hall.  We have also been working closely with the High Moorland Community Action group, seeking to achieve a new village centre for Princetown as well as a flagship arts & crafts centre to secure the regeneration of the settlement's commercial heart.

Community Planning

For more information on local strategic partnerships, your local community strategy, parish plans and community appraisals visit the community planning page.

Environmental Enhancement

We work with communities and other partners to secure environmental enhancement through the development of community and public realm enhancement schemes, for example: public art projects and the use of locally distinctive materials in village hall developments and highways schemes.
