7th July 2008 - Dartmoor Wood Fuel Event

Last Autumn Devon Association of Renewable Energy (DARE) undertook research for RE4D (Renewable Energy for Devon) programme, investigating the feasibility of setting up a new woodfuel production and supply structure on Dartmoor, based around Brimpts Farm, near Dartmeet.

With support from the Forestry Commission DARE want to help the interested people and businesses (Stakeholders), to become properly established and constituted as a group. This event was hosted by Andy Bradford at Brimpts Farm, to bring these Stakeholders – and others - back together, to learn more about woodfuel supply and use and explore the opportunities of establishing a new local woodfuel Co-operative.

We believe that there is an important opportunity to use local Dartmoor wood resources to provide heating fuel for Dartmoor.  Dartmoor farmers are warmly invited to attend this information event, and help to decide the future of Dartmoor woodfuel.   Included in the event was  expert-led discussions on the development of the co-operative, wood fuelled boilers, the nature of wood fuel, and the legal options for the structure of the co-operative.
