Ten Tors Leaders’ classroom resource

This resource has been designed to help you, as a Ten Tors manager or group leader, to help your Ten Tors participants explore some of the wider environmental, cultural and physical opportunities offered by Dartmoor. It has been designed for use as a classroom session – possibly in the lead up to expeditions, going out on the moor or as an introduction early in recruitment. We trialled the resource at the Ten Tors managers’ briefing weekend and in 2010 received positive feedback. The resource is provided as both a word document and a pdf – please adapt it to your needs; for example, one teacher at the briefing weekend said that they would like to use the images in a PowerPoint show. We would be delighted however they are used.

The resource consists of a series of images produced in Word and as a PDF ( PDF Help 1000kb) that reflect both positive and negative aspects of the Dartmoor Ten Tors event, a simple  worksheet with instructions for students (again, do feel free to adapt to your own setting) and an outline timetable for you as the leader.
