Teachers and Group Leaders Area

The National Park Authority has a statutory duty to promote the understanding and enjoyment of the area’s special qualities and so this lies at the heart of the Education Service work.  

We are here to help all those visiting and using Dartmoor for formal or informal educational purposes.  This includes youth and schools groups as well as individual students, teachers and group leaders.  The Service can help by providing advice and information on any aspects of the Dartmoor environment ranging from its natural to its cultural heritage, the different land uses past and present, as well as the work of the National Park Authority itself.  

Groups may want to engage the Education Service to arrange:

a guided walk or site visit – either as a general introduction or for specific themes linked to the National Curriculum: either geography & science or as a source of inspiration for art & literacy, a school or centre visit with a talk or slide show, a practical field-work trip, for a group to do some “help the ranger work”; CPD events for schools - perhaps as a non-pupil day - use us to help your staff explore the rich learning opportunities offered by Dartmoor's landscape, wildlife and cultural heritage.

All activities need to be arranged well in advance.

The Education Service exists to enable educational activities to happen whilst respecting both the environment and the communities visited.
