Education Service Guide Hire The purpose of this service is to assist youth and school groups and their leaders to gain the most benefit out of their visit to Dartmoor. The guides have a wide knowledge and experience of the area and can interpret both the natural and the human features of the landscape to the group. The guides will undertake to navigate the group (at an appropriate pace) across the moor. | ![]() |
They need to reserve the right to alter, adapt, shorten or cancel the pre-arranged walk as they think fit. This may be due to weather conditions, the group’s standard of clothing or footwear, fitness or behaviour, or the late arrival of the group. All the guides are qualified to the minimum level 4 (H4) Moorland Leadership of the South West Moorland Scheme adopted by Devon County Council. This means approval to lead moorland walking in summer conditions. Many of our guides are additionally qualified to lead moorland walking in winter conditions and some are qualified to lead walks in a high mountainous environment.
