Countryside Management 2
Rangers also assist landowners and commoners with practical land management initiatives such as managed vegetation burning (swaling) and organise the removal of litter and fly tipped rubbish. Practical conservation work is carried out including stone walling, hedge laying, tree planting, installing nest boxes for birds, bats and dormice, erosion surveys and repair work, clearance of scrub and bracken, from archaeological sites and vulnerable breeding and nesting sites. With increased awareness of environmental issues the Ranger Service is now more able to call upon the help of local groups to assist in this practical work. | ![]() |
