A Guide to the Archaeology of Dartmoor The word ‘archaeology’, in its purest sense, means the study of the material remains of our past, although we now commonly use the term to refer to the visible remains in the landscape. The archaeology of Dartmoor is very special. Within today’s wild moorland landscapes, dominated by heather and moorland grasses, can be found extensive remains of past human activity – much now reclaimed by nature. This publication is available for purchase from our on-line shop.
