Alan Hosking | Alan Hosking was born in Plymouth and educated at Plymouth College and Downing College, Cambridge, where he read history. He was commissioned during his National Service in the Royal Navy. After university he worked in management in West and East Africa, before taking up lectureships in business studies at north east London Polytechnic, and Queen Mary College University of London. He is Devon County Councillor for Yelverton Rural, Chairman of Devon County Farms Estate Committee, member of Devon County Council's Development Control Committee, Environment, Economy and Culture Overview and Scrunity Committee, Public Rights of Way Committee and Vice Chairman of the Tamar Valley AONB Partnership. He has served as a National Trust volunteer and is a member of the Devon Wildlife Trust, Dartmoor Preservation Association, Dartmoor Society, Plymouth and District Archaeological Association and RSPB, and is a regular Dartmoor walker. |
