About Us

Dartmoor Access Forum

The Dartmoor Local Access Forum is an independent advisory body which was established by the Dartmoor National Park Authority in November 2002. Its purpose is to give advice to the National Park Authority and other organisations, on how to make the countryside of Dartmoor more accessible and enjoyable for open air recreation, in ways which address environmental, social and economic interests.

The Forum normally meets, in public, four times each year.  Details of past meetings are to be found below, together with information about the Forum and its members.

Meetings for 2008 will be held on 4 March, 10 June, 2 September and 2 December.  All meetings will normally be held at the National Park Headquarters at Bovey Tracey. The agenda for each forthcoming meeting will be posted on the website two weeks before the meeting, and a copy is also available to view at the National Park Headquarters.

New Members

DNPA is currently looking for people to represent a wide range of interests on the Access Forum.  We would particularly like to hear from anyone with knowledge or experience of conservation, environmental education, social exclusion or cycling.

The National Park Authority is also keen to take account of the needs of young people, women, and people on low incomes, to seek representation from people with disabilities, and to encourage individuals from ethnic minorities to become members of the Forum.

For further information about becoming a member of the Forum, please call Andrew Watson, Principal Access and Ranger Officer, Dartmoor National Park Authority  Tel (01626) 832093

Application packs can be dowloaded here, and must be returned to the Secretary by Friday 17 October 2008.
