Dartmoor Christmas Gifts

Are you looking to buy a gift for someone with an interest in Dartmoor this Christmas?  Why not pop into Dartmoor National Park Authority’s High Moorland Visitor Centre, Princetown, or Postbridge Information Centre, where selected items are on sale with up to 50% off the recommended retail price.  There are massive reductions on a range of popular Dartmoor books and buy one, get one free offers on the superb Moor Memories CDs (recollections of life on Dartmoor throughout the 20th century);  but hurry, the offers are only available while stocks last.

Dartmoor National Park Authority Centres stock a wide range of books, Dartmoor branded clothing and outdoor equipment, and great gift ideas for the Dartmoor enthusiast.

Dartmoor is a superb place to look for unique Christmas gifts with many individual shops and a thriving arts and crafts culture.  Why not spend some time on Dartmoor looking for that special something this Christmas.

If the festive fever gets too much, you can recharge your batteries on one of Dartmoor National Park Authority’s guided walks.  The full programme is contained in What’s on Dartmoor: A guide to local events and walks, available free from Dartmoor National Park Authority Information Centres. The programme can also be viewed on the Authority’s web site www.dartmoor-npa.gov.uk (click on Visiting/ Events and Guided Walks).

The High Moorland Visitor Centre is open daily, 10 am – 4 pm and Postbridge Centre is open at weekends only, 10am – 4 pm.  Other Centres at Haytor and Newbridge are also open at weekends only, 10 am – 4 pm, but do not stock the full range of Christmas sale items.

All Centres will be closed on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day but will open again between 27 Dec and 1 January 2007.  From 2 January 2007 all Centres other than the High Moorland Visitor Centre will be closed until 4 April 2007.

Notes for Editors

National Parks cover 10% of the land area of England, Wales and Scotland. They are of special value to the whole nation because of their great beauty, their wildlife and cultural interests and the opportunities they offer for quiet enjoyment. However, they are not nationally owned - the land is in the hands of many landowners or occupiers including farmers. Over 33,400 people live inside the Dartmoor National Park and many millions of visits are made to it each year.
