Robin Armstrong, artist, author and naturalist, at Dartmoor Visitor Centre
| Dartmoor National Park Authority’s High Moorland Visitor Centre, Princetown, is hosting a stunning new exhibition by one of the region’s foremost wildlife artists, Robin Armstrong. | ![]() |
Twenty-four works will be on display in the Visitor Centre’s Dartmoor Gallery until Wednesday 6 June 2007.
Born in 1947, Robin Armstrong has been painting wildlife since he sold his first picture of a prairie falcon to a milkman at the age of 13.
Frequent exhibitions in both London and in the west country have brought his unique style to the attention of collectors from Europe, the United States and Canada. In recent years painting in oils has added another facet to his work and some of these paintings were featured in his book Dartmoor River published in 2002. The author of six books about life as an artist, angler and naturalist, Robin has for the last few years leased a studio overlooking the beautiful Tavy estuary, where a wealth of wildlife can be observed at all states of tide and in all seasons.
Admission to the High Moorland Visitor Centre, Dartmoor Gallery, is free. The Centre is open daily, 10.00 am – 4.00 pm, until 4 April 2007, when opening times will be 10.00 am – 5.00 pm daily.
Princetown is accessible by public transport. For timetable enquiries please telephone Traveline on 0871 200 22 33 or visit www.traveline.org.uk (external link, opens new window) .

National Parks cover 10% of the land area of England, Wales and Scotland. They are of special value to the whole nation because of their great beauty, their wildlife and cultural interests and the opportunities they offer for quiet enjoyment. However, they are not nationally owned - the land is in the hands of many landowners or occupiers including farmers. Over 33,400 people live inside the Dartmoor National Park and many millions of visits are made to it each year.
