The Secretary of State appoints several Members to each Authority to reflect the national importance placed on National Parks. Applications are particularly encouraged from members of ethnic minorities, disabled and young people.
Appointments commence in April 2009 and are initially for four years, with the option of re-appointment for a period of up to ten years.
