Dartmoor Impressions at the High Moorland Visitor Centre, Princetown
Visitors to Dartmoor National Park Authority’s High Moorland Visitor Centre, Princetown, can discover the beauty of Dartmoor, through a collection of stunning paintings, on display in the Centre’s Dartmoor Gallery until Sunday 6 March.
The collection, by Plymouth artist Sue Wills, entitled Dartmoor Impressions from the Palette, is inspired by the colours, textures and light to be found in the upland woods, river valleys and open moorland of Dartmoor.
The work on display is created using a palette knife, to enable oils to be added to the canvass, forming subtle textures and capturing the play of light over the landscape.
Sue’s work can also be seen at her gallery, ‘Only Originals’, established in 1983 at White Lane, The Barbican, Plymouth.
The High Moorland Visitor Centre, Princetown, is open daily, 10 am – 4 pm until Sunday 6 March. The Centre will be closed from Monday 7 – Friday 11 March, to enable annual maintenance work to be carried out. Normal opening times will resume on Saturday 12 March.

National Parks cover 10% of the land area of England, Wales and Scotland. They are of specialvalue to the whole nation because of their great beauty, their wildlife and cultural interests and the opportunities they offer for quiet enjoyment. However, they are not nationally owned - the land is in the hands of many landowners or occupiers including farmers. Over 33,400 people live inside the Dartmoor National Park and many millions of visits are made to it each year.
