Connecting Dartmoor!

Earlier this year, DNPA worked with local communities and Devon County Council to submit an Expression of Interest for a Dartmoor project to the Rural Community Broadband Fund, administered by Defra.  If successful the project will draw down money from the fund to focus on the specific needs of some of Dartmoor’s rural communities by enabling these remote ‘hard to reach’ communities access super-fast broadband.
In September 2012 we heard that our initial ‘Expression of Interest’ had been favourably received by Defra and we have been invited to work up a full bid for submission, subject to a number of conditions and caveats. We will continue to work closely with DCC and the Connecting Devon and Somerset project to develop the project. The support of the local communites, PC’s and local businesses will be vital in helping us develop a strong bid.

To support the bid we need to show strong evidence of community demand for a better broadband service. To do this we need as many Dartmoor residents and businesses to register their interest by completing a simple survey from the property that takes only a few minutes

Or if you don’t yet have access to the internet from your property, you can call the hotline number 0844 4636887 (calls cost 5p min from BT landline) or contact Jo Rumble, Communities Officer on 01626 831024 to arrange for a survey form to be sent to you.
