Committees and Panels
In addition to meetings of the full Authority, Members of the Authority serve on three formal committees and three informal working panels, together with a number of outside bodies.

Development Management Committee
This committee meets every month to determine planning applications, consider whether to grant listed building consent, determine whether it is expedient to authorise legal action in enforcement cases and receive reports on appeals, delegated decisions and consultations with other neighbouring authorities.
All Members of Dartmoor National Park Authority are members of the Development Management Committee, provided that they attend relevant training as required.

Standards Committee
Dartmoor National Park Authority is required to have a Standards Committee to oversee the operation of the Code of Conduct. The committee must have Independent Members, who are not members of Dartmoor National Park Authority and the Chairman of the committee must be an Independent Member.

This committee meets to scrutinise the activity of the Authority in reference to its performance, governance and use of resources (including human resources).

This working group provides an informal forum for discussion and debate and provides an opportunity for early consideration of matters likely to come to future Authority meetings.

The group does not hold formal meetings with agendas, reports and minutes and the group has no decision-making function or power to transact any business.
Park Management Working Panel
This working panel provides an informal forum to consider matters relating to policy, priorities and performance in relation to the Authority’s statutory purposes of conservation and promoting understanding and enjoyment.

Planning and Sustainable Development Working Panel
This working panel provides an informal forum to consider matters relevant to policy, priorities and performance in relation to the Authority’s forward planning and development management functions and the statutory duty to seek to foster the socio-economic well-being of the local community insofar as this is compatible with the pursuit of National Park purposes

Appointment to Outside Bodies etc for 2011/12
In accordance with Standing Orders at its Annual Meeting in June of each year, the Authority appoints Members to Committees, Working Panels and representatives to partnership bodies, joint projects, community organisations and other outside bodies for a period expiring at the date of the next Annual Meeting of the Authority unless otherwise determined.
